Tamaro Trophy with upgrade: Start of the 2025 XCO season
The countdown is on—just four weeks to go! On March 22-23, the 2025 international cross-country season kicks off in Ticino. The Škoda Swiss Bike Cup opens with the prestigious Tamaro Trophy at Monte Ceneri, once again drawing a world-class field of participants to Switzerland. In 2025, the Tamaro Trophy is part of the newly established UCI Continental Series, designed as a stepping stone to the UCI World Cup. With top-level riders from Switzerland and beyond, the event serves as an important early-season benchmark for the competition ahead.

Jordan Sarrou aims for second win in a row
French champion and last year’s winner, Jordan Sarrou (Team BMC), is one of the top favorites at Monte Ceneri, with clear ambitions to defend his title. After a dominant French triple victory last year, Sarrou once again faces strong competition from within his own ranks, including Joshua Dubau (DECATHLON Ford Racing Team), Titouan Carod (Team BMC), and Luca Martin (Cannondale Factory Racing Team).
Among the challengers is Swiss rider Marcel Guerrini from the BIXS Performance Race Team. In previous seasons, Guerrini often needed some time to hit his stride, making it uncertain whether the Luzern-based rider can break last year’s French dominance at the Tamaro Trophy. However, he has already proven his strength on technically demanding courses, most notably with his impressive third-place finish at the UCI MTB World Series in Nové Město last season.
Neff and Lecomte in new colors
The Škoda Swiss Bike Cup 2025 promises thrilling races—especially in the elite women’s category! Tokyo 2021 Olympic champion Jolanda Neff will make her first Swiss appearance in the colors of her new Cannondale Factory Racing team. After finishing second last year, she is determined to claim her first Swiss Bike Cup victory since 2019.
Loana Lecomte, the reigning French XCO and XCC champion and winner of the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike World Series in Crans-Montana, also begins the season in new colors, riding for Team BMC in 2025. Another top contender is Sina Frei (Specialized Factory Racing), the Tokyo 2021 silver medalist. Frei ended last season in outstanding form, reaching the podium in each of the last four World Cup races.

Premiere of GP Osterha: part of the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup
For over 30 years, the Swiss Bike Cup has been dedicated to developing young mountain biking talent, establishing itself as one of Europe's leading platforms for emerging riders. Now, the series is expanding its scope: On April 19, 2025, as part of a pilot project, the Swiss Bike Cup will co-organize the renowned cycling classic GP Osterhas, starting and finishing in Affoltern am Albis (ZH).
Cycling is evolving, with more athletes embracing a multidisciplinary approach—training and competing across multiple disciplines. The organizers of the Swiss Bike Cup actively support this development.
“Many cross-country stars are now excelling both on the road and in mountain biking. We want to encourage this trend,” says Dimitri Isler, project manager for the Škoda Swiss Bike Cup.
A prime example of this versatility is Swiss rider Sina Frei. The European Gravel Champion, Cape Epic winner, XCC World Champion, and multiple XCC World Cup winner regularly competes in road races, seeing it as a valuable way to refine her skills.
“In XCC races, positioning and tactical moves are crucial, and my road racing experience really helps,” she explains. “Road racing is great training—I benefit from the high speeds, longer race durations, and fresh challenges. It’s also a refreshing change from mountain biking, and I love the teamwork and different race dynamics.”
